Headshots
How much do headshots cost at Photography Shark?
Studio headshot sessions start at $395 and include 10 fully retouched final images, a 30–60 minute shoot at the Rockland studio, professional lighting and direction throughout, two to three outfit changes, and a commercial use license. On-location sessions start at $495 — that adds a $100 location fee for the photographer's travel and setup time at a Boston-area or South Shore location of your choice. Additional retouched images beyond the included ten can be purchased after you've seen your gallery, currently $20 per additional image. There are no separate fees for the digital files, hidden retouching charges, or "rush" markups inside the standard 3–5 business day delivery window. The single most common follow-up question is whether prints are extra — they are, and they're ordered separately through your private gallery if you want them.
What should I wear for my headshot session?
Solid colors and simple textures photograph cleanest under studio strobes. Bring two to three outfit options in a range — at minimum one neutral (navy, charcoal, deep green, burgundy) and one that brings color near the face (jewel tones photograph beautifully on most skin tones). Avoid pure bright white (it blows out and pulls the eye away from your face), thin stripes or busy prints (they create moiré patterns on camera), and clothing with visible logos unless that's intentional for personal branding. Fit matters more than expense — a well-tailored $50 shirt photographs better than a poorly-fitted designer piece. For business and LinkedIn headshots, business casual through formal works. For actors, bring your "type" wardrobe — exactly what you'd wear to a casting audition. The full color, fabric, and silhouette walkthrough is at /headshot-wardrobe-guide/.
How long does a headshot session take?
Standard studio headshot sessions run 30–60 minutes start to finish. The first five to ten minutes are a consultation — we walk through what the headshot needs to do (LinkedIn vs casting submission vs corporate directory), confirm wardrobe choices, and review any reference images you brought. The actual shooting time is typically 20–40 minutes across two or three setups, with one or two outfit changes between lighting configurations. You'll see images on the back of the camera as we shoot so we can adjust expression, posture, or framing in real time rather than discovering issues in post. Actor sessions tend to run closer to 60–90 minutes because we're typically capturing both theatrical and commercial looks. Plan to arrive five minutes early so we can start on time, and budget an extra ten minutes after the session if you want to chat through the rough images before you leave.
How quickly will I receive my headshot photos?
Fully retouched final images are delivered within 3–5 business days through a private password-protected online gallery. The standard rule is "by the end of the next business week" — if you shoot on Tuesday, your gallery is typically ready by Friday or the following Monday at the latest. Many clients actually see their gallery within 24 hours; that's common but not guaranteed, so plan against the 3–5 day window if you're working to a casting submission deadline or a corporate launch date. Every image in the gallery is individually hand-retouched (skin work, color grading, contrast tuning) — not batch-filtered with a preset, which is what extends the turnaround beyond the same-day raw exports some studios offer. Rush delivery is available if you absolutely need same-day or next-day; ask when you book and we'll quote it.
Do you shoot headshots on location in Boston?
Yes — on-location headshot sessions are available for a $100 location fee, putting the starting price at $495. The fee covers travel, setup time, and bringing portable strobe gear or working with available natural light at your chosen spot. Popular Boston locations include the Public Garden and Common (clean greenery and architectural backgrounds), Beacon Hill (brick, wrought-iron railings, classic New England character), the Seaport (modern glass-and-steel professional look that suits tech and finance branding), and the Greenway. South Shore options include Hingham Harbor, Scituate Lighthouse, World's End reservation, and the beach towns. On-location sessions take longer than studio sessions because we're working around weather, light, and pedestrian flow — plan for 60–90 minutes in the field plus travel. Studio sessions are more weather-proof and produce more consistent lighting, which is why most corporate and LinkedIn clients still book the Rockland studio.
Can I use my headshots for LinkedIn, acting submissions, and corporate use?
Yes. All delivered images include a commercial use license. You may use your headshots for LinkedIn, casting platforms, corporate directories, websites, and personal branding.
Senior Portraits
How much do senior portraits cost?
Senior portrait packages at Photography Shark start at $1,500. Packages vary in length, number of locations, outfit changes, and final images delivered. Contact Chris for the current package menu.
When should we book senior portraits?
Most families book between May and September for summer or early fall sessions. August and September fill up fastest for the class of the following year. Book as early as possible to secure your preferred date.
Where are senior portrait sessions held?
Senior portraits are available in-studio in Rockland or on location anywhere on the South Shore — beaches, harbors, parks, and downtown areas. Hingham, Scituate, Duxbury, and Cohasset are popular locations.
Boudoir Photography
Is boudoir photography at Photography Shark private?
Yes. Boudoir sessions are completely private — only you and Chris in the studio. No assistants, no uninvited guests. The studio is locked during sessions.
How much does boudoir photography cost?
Boudoir sessions at Photography Shark start at $1,295 and include professional hair and makeup, a 90-minute private studio session, two outfit changes, 15 fully retouched digital images, and access to your private password-protected gallery for six months. The mid-tier Signature package is $1,995 and includes a two-hour session, three outfit changes, 30 retouched images, an 8x8 flush-mount album, and a 12-month gallery. The Luxury tier at $2,995 covers three hours, five outfit changes, 50+ images, a 10x10 premium album, a 16x20 wall print, and lifetime gallery access. Hair and makeup are included in every tier — that's typically a $200–300 service if you booked it independently, so the entry price is effectively closer to $1,000 in raw photography cost. Payment plans are available; ask when you inquire. Add-ons like couples sessions, outdoor add-on locations, rush editing, or extra outfit changes are priced à la carte.
What should I bring to a boudoir session?
Bring 2–3 outfits or lingerie sets, any props or accessories that feel meaningful to you, and comfortable slippers or heels. Chris will walk you through everything during a pre-session consultation.

Booking & Process
How do I book a session with Photography Shark?
There are three ways: the contact form at photographyshark.com/contact-me/, calling (781) 312-8824, or texting that same number. Chris (the photographer) responds to every inquiry personally — there's no booking platform routing you through a virtual assistant or an intake form bot. Typical response time is within one business day, often within a few hours during business hours. When you reach out, share roughly what kind of session you're looking for (headshot, boudoir, portfolio, dating, etc.), your timeline, and any deadline you're working against. Most sessions can be scheduled within the same week, and rush slots are sometimes available for casting deadlines or last-minute corporate launches. A deposit is required to lock the date once you confirm — typically half the session fee, held against the final balance.
How should I prepare for my headshot session?
Three things make the biggest difference. First, get a real night of sleep — eight hours is far more useful than any amount of retouching, especially around the eyes. Second, hydrate the day before; skin photographs visibly differently when you're dehydrated, and that's a fix no editor can do post-session. Third, plan your wardrobe the night before, not the morning of, and bring two to three options on hangers rather than folded. If you have a haircut booked, schedule it for one to two weeks before the session so it's settled, not freshly cut. Skip new skincare, peels, retinol, or treatments the week of — anything that could redden or peel your skin. Eat normally before you arrive (low blood sugar reads on camera as a flat or tense expression). And bring water; sessions go faster when you're comfortable. Full wardrobe specifics are at /headshot-wardrobe-guide/.
Do you require a deposit to book?
A $100 deposit is required to hold your session date. The deposit is applied toward your session balance and is non-refundable once the date is confirmed. The remaining balance is due on the day of your session. Boudoir, senior portrait, and other premium sessions may require a larger deposit — confirmed at booking.
What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?
One reschedule is allowed with at least 72 hours notice before your session. Rescheduled sessions must take place within 30 days of the original date, subject to availability. Cancellations or no-shows with less than 72 hours notice forfeit the deposit and no credit is applied to a future booking. For weather-affected outdoor sessions, the rescheduling timeline is flexible — outdoor weather calls are made by the photographer based on conditions on the day of.
What if I don't love my photos? Do you offer reshoots?
If something about your gallery is not working for you, reach out to Chris within a week of receiving your images. The most common solution is additional retouching on specific shots — color tone, skin work, or framing adjustments that can be fixed in post. Reshoots are handled case by case and depend on the situation; there is no rigid formula. The honest goal is for you to leave with images you actually want to use, so a direct conversation is always the starting point.
How do I receive my final photos?
Final retouched images are delivered via a private online gallery. You can download high-resolution files directly from the gallery within 3–5 business days of your session.
