The Campaign
Forty is not a finish line.
Most women in their forties have spent the better part of two decades being photographed at someone else's wedding, in someone else's family portrait, at someone else's event. Somewhere along the way, booking a session just for yourself — not as a gift, not as a record of an occasion — starts to feel indulgent. Like something other people do.
The 40 Over 40 campaign exists to push back on that. It's a series of studio portrait sessions created specifically for women 40 and older, designed from the ground up to be a genuinely good experience — not a session you survive, but one you leave glad you did.
No experience in front of a camera required. No particular look, size, or shape required. No agenda except to create images that show you exactly as you are — at the age you are, in the body you are in — and to make that look like exactly what it is: worth documenting.
Sessions are conducted one-on-one in a fully private South Shore studio. Every image is personally photographed and edited by Chris McCarthy. Nothing is shared without your permission.
The Process

Consultation
Before your session, we talk through your vision, your comfort level, and what you want the images to feel like. You can ask anything — no question is too small, no concern is off the table.

Session Day
Your session is one-on-one in a fully private studio. No assistants, no other clients on-site. Posing guidance is provided throughout so you never have to wonder what to do. We set the pace together.

Gallery Delivery
Your edited images are delivered to a password-protected gallery accessible only by you. Prints, wall art, and albums are available. Nothing is shared without your explicit written consent.

Common Questions
Do I have to be exactly 40 to participate?
No. The 40 Over 40 campaign is open to women 40 and older — which means women in their 50s, 60s, and 70s are equally welcome. The campaign is about celebrating this stage of life, not gatekeeping it to a single year.
Is this a boudoir session or a portrait session?
It can be either — or both. Many participants choose a boudoir experience. Others prefer glamour, fashion-forward, or classic studio portraits. The style of your session is entirely your call. We talk through what you want before you ever step in front of the camera.
What should I wear?
Bring two to four outfits that feel most like you — lingerie, a silk robe, a statement dress, or a structured blazer all photograph beautifully. Every package includes a pre-session style consultation guide to help you prepare. At the start of your session we go through your options together and narrow down what will look best with the lighting and backdrops.
What does the campaign feature include?
Every package includes a feature on the Photography Shark blog and social media. I work with you on how you'd like to be introduced — which images to use, how much of your story to share, and whether to use your full name. All features are confirmed with you in writing before anything is published. You can withdraw or adjust any feature at any time.
Are my session images private?
Your private gallery is password-protected and accessible only by you. Campaign features — blog posts and social media — are separate from your gallery and are always confirmed in writing before publication. You have the right to withdraw or limit any feature at any time. Images of you will never appear in advertising or be sold for commercial use without a separate commercial licensing agreement.
